Standard of Living

I posted this poll earlier today but I did something wrong because no one else could vote on it. So let's try this again.

In Douglas Coupland's 1991 novel Generation X: Tales for an Accelerated Culture, he claimed that his was the first generation destined to earn less on average than their parents had. I'm curious how this has played out, hence this poll.

Are you presently enjoying a better standard of living than your parents did (or if you were in a single parent family, than your primary caregiver did)?

Yes
6(60.0%)
No
3(30.0%)
About the same
1(10.0%)
I'm not sure
0(0.0%)

Would you say that you are earning more or less money (adjusted for the times) in most years than the parent who supported you most financially as a child did?

Yes
5(50.0%)
No
3(30.0%)
About the same
1(10.0%)
I'm not sure
1(10.0%)
