Alright, this poll stems from a current issue going on with my ex-boyfriend and I. We had problems and our relationship wasn't the greatest by any means, but it was good in its own right. The breakup was a little rough, and we said we'd stay friends, and of course we haven't really so far. It's been awkward (for me at least) seeing him around other friends, and we hardly talk past small talk. We ended up in a full out arguement tonight, and I'm wondering if it's really worth the effort and hostility to try and make a friendships work.
The poll isn't exactly about that, but I'm wondering what your experiences with the whole "let's be friends" thing have been.
If anything is unclear in the poll, I'm sorry, and if you'd like to elaborate in the comments, be my guest.
Do you think that it is possible for a couple to stay friends after dating for a short period of time (less than one year) and breaking up?
Do you think that it is likely for a couple to stay friends after dating for a long period of time (more than one year) and breaking up?
Under what conditions would you be unable to remain friends with your ex?
How many significant others (by your definition) have you had that you can recall?
And how many of those significant others have you remained friendly with?
