Isn't Whistler's Mother by Whistler? I wasn't sure and couldn't picture it, so I didn't list it. Also, I'm thinking The Creation of Adam is the one where God is reaching a finger down to touch the finger of a man (Adam?) reaching up? I wasn't sure on that, either, so I didn't check it.

On the opera, you asked if I "recognized" the ones listed but didn't specify how. I "recognize" all of the names because I used to shelve music at a store I worked in, so I checked all of them. I couldn't hum you a tune from any of them. I think the only opera I've ever seen part of was Pagliacci on PBS.

I recognize all of the Shakespeare quotes but can't remember where I read a couple of them, even when I know I actually read the play including the quote.

the title for "Whistler's Mother" is actually "Arrangement in Grey and Black" : )
and yes, by James Whisrler

I wasn't sure how to answer the opera question. I have heard of all of them, but I didn't check them unless I could call to mind at least a little something about the music. Fun poll, though!
