Good poll - there needs to be more respect for people's choices regarding having children.

I got this idea when I was reading about the debate over whether it's "selfish" to choose not to have children. I don't think it's selfish at all, in these days of overpopulation--bad parenting is more selfish IMO.

I wish that I had thought to put that as an option. It sounds like you're in a pretty similar situation to the one I'm in. I've wanted children for years but due to life circumstances, I cannot afford them, and am likely also infertile. And it's distressing.

I would like to have children but my husband is sterile. We are embracing a child-free lifestyle and not exploring other alternatives to being parents.

I want to try to get pregnant if I end up in a position where I can afford it. But if it turns out I can't, I'm prepared to approach the childfree life too. I'm not very interested in adopting.

There is a difference between "wanting" children and making a conscious decision to have a child.

am i seriously the only person here who got knocked up unexpectedly? hahaha.

and i will say that even though i did not plan on ever having children, nor did i think i wanted any - i couldn't be happier with the child i have. she is so amazing, and i am completely blessed and very lucky to have her in my life.

I never want my own children, I love kids though and I want to adopt at least one child in the future if I can afford it, otherwise I will be childless.
And to clarify, by afford I mean to be able to bring them up and provide them with everything they need...unless I get past minimum wage, that's not going to happen.

That makes sense. I'm sorry to hear about your loss.

Don't have them, don't want them, don't like them. Essure FTW!

I've heard stories of childfree women having a hard time finding a doctor who will sterilize them. I'm glad that you got the Essure procedure so you don't have to worry :)
