I think it's appropriate. I don't think kids get enough discipline these days.

I completely agree! o_o Kids are f---ing spoiled little brats these days!

I chose appropriate because I think kids DO NOT get enough discipline these days AT ALL! This may not be the best choice, but it's definitely better than nothing.

I agree.

I wouldn't raise a fuss over it, but I picked inappropriate because it does seem a little...off. I think I'm speaking mostly from personal bias against how humiliating it is to attempt pushups in front of other people.

I agree with the humiliation factor. I coudln't do push-ups until I was in college. I didn't have the upper body strength. What happened to no games and having to be quiet and well - *gasp* learning?

I think it's inappropriate because the punishment should fit the crime.

I answered inappropriate, but it strikes me as ineffective more than anything. I guess it depends, as someone who hated gym class I'd have hated that punishment but others probably would think it's fun and therefore it's not so much a punishment.

I think lines are a classic, boring, repetitive, and you'll think twice before misbehaving.

As someone else stated, I wouldn't raise a fuss over it.

I'm not outraged by it, but it doesn't seem like a logical consequence.

That would be appropriate in gym, but music? I'd probably make them all sit quietly, not allowed to do anything, for like five minutes.

What would you do if they fidget or don't stay quiet? What further punishment or penalty would you dole out then?

Using exercise as a form of punishment against children is a real good way to make children hate exercise. :/

I agree with that one!

This.

It sounds like a good way to warm up their bodies. And definitely their vocal cords after all the complaining!

I'm not asking because I'm thinking of trying it. I was upset that this discipline was given to my child's class.
