I open presents when I get them. I usually don't get presents, so this can't be described as traditional. (This year I allowed people to get me gifts/send cards.)

My anniversary-related Christmas depression is much better this year. I feel better than I've felt in 10 years thanks to therapy. Still sad though.

Same city, different flat. (Cat-sitting.)

Other for Christmas presents: I finished shopping today. I feel like I get a medal or something.

My family opens their presents on Christmas day, but depending upon if my brother & his GF, and my sister & her current GF are having Christmas at their families houses, we'll open their presents on either the 24th or 23rd. :)

Christmas is no longer what it used to be for me. It's been more and more disturbing as the years have passed, because bad things often happen in my family during the winter months, but I lost my uncle (one of my best friends) last Christmas, so it's taken on a whole new meaning for me. It's now a dark time, and not like Halloween with its fake darkness, it has real darkness to it, and frightens me as it approaches as it means he's been gone for a year. Each year will become worse, as it will be one more year without him.

I said I finished in the last few days, but really I finished like ten minutes ago...lol

Close enough!

Two more days and then it's over! I wish I could fill out this poll, just to collapse it a bit, heh. I guess I could answer like one question, but that might skew your results.

I bought my presents before Thanksgiving. I just bought some trinkets at a convention I was attending.</p>

I'm honestly not sure what's going on for religious services for me. My family wants me to go to one on Christmas Eve, but I'm going to be working a full shift that day and will be too tired and agnostic to go.

OK, "too tired and agnostic" is my new favorite go-to excuse. XD

Re: the first question - my tradition growing up was to open all presents on Christmas Day. Then hubby and I settled into a place, got stable financially and were finally in a position to celebrate Christmas with "the works" (gifts, turkey dinner etc.,) and we adopted his childhood tradition which was to open one gift on Christmas Eve and the rest on Christmas Day. So that's our tradition, which has been in place for a few years, even though it differs from my childhood tradition.

I finished my shopping about two weeks ago, enough time for Amazon to deliver a few days before Xmas.

Traditionally we open a present of new pajamas Christmas eve and the rest Christmas morning.

On the "war on Christmas" thing: We have a sizeable Jewish population in this area, so most people stick with "happy holiday(s)" unless they know for sure which you celebrate. So when people stress "merry Christmas" to people who they don't know what they celebrate, it comes across as... overdefensive posturing, a little bit? Maybe it's just me.

I get off for Christmas at my one job but I've worked at the other before. Nowadays I'll put myself down for off on Christmas as early as the December or January prior, which reminds me I need to do that this year.

To the question before the last one: I'm going to watch the Christmas mass in Rome tonight, on tv. It's my own Christmas tradition.

I've finished all my gift shopping a week or so ago - but I have some food gifts (fudge, peppermint bark, meringues, cookies) to finish up tonight.

The gift-buying thing varies from year to year, but usually I have a couple left on the 23rd.

The whole ''war on Christmas'' thing isn't a thing where I'm from, because I'm not from a multicultural society.

Traditionally, my immediate family opens all gifts on Christmas Eve, then we get together with our cousins' families at our grandparents' house in the evening on Christmas Day for round two!

I did ALL of my shopping on the 23rd and opening is on christmas eve ;)
