I've... seriously been living under a rock, because most of the non-sports things are new news to me (and I don't give a fig for sports, so it's a given I'd know nothing of them). Either that, or my short-term memory is completely shot. ^^;;;;;;;

I don't think I would support having a douchebag of the year, but Blagojevich gets my vote for going on that reality show. That is what put him over the top.

Also, I originally thought Zuckerberg was an absurd choice for person of the year, but when I read the article, I thought, hmm, that sounds okay to me.

The news stories were hard to choose. The Chilean miners story was so inspiring. But I'm also very glad they finally repealed DADT.

Re douchebag, I would have picked Assange.

Assange is a polarizing figure. It seems that people either see him as a champion of freedom of information or an ego-maniac who doesn't give a damn about who he hurts in the name of freedom. He's worthy of a separate poll question just for himself.

I've never even heard of any of the sports things. I am not into sports at all. Obviously I've heard of the World Cup and the World Series and things like that, but I had no clue who won.

Time doesn't pick it's person of the year based on virtue but on how much the person is in the news.

Are you sure about this? Wouldn't that mean that whoever the President of the United States is would almost always be the Person of the Year?
