If it exists, it is beyond our ability to anthropomorphize it in any fashion that would accurately reflect it.

I'm not sure if I agree. Have you seen ALL the Oh God! movies? ;)

It's a one-hit wonder by Dishwalla. Doesn't that take you back?

George Burns and John Denver were a perfect pairing in that movie. Teri Garr wasn't bad either.

for those of you who say we couldn't imagine god — the bible does say we were created in his image…

but anyway, i'm an atheist. and if i'm suprised and it turns out there is a god, i think he's something i'd consider evil. or else, the equivalent of a little boy pulling the wings off flys or making ants in a jar fight.

...Or whoever gave the greenlight to the Steve Wilkos show...

I believe in many gods and goddesses. I also believe that "god" is whatever you believe him/her/it/them to be. All beliefs are legitimate, even if you are agnostic or an atheist.

God is beyond human ability to comprehend. God is formless, genderless, without beginning and without an end. Ants would have an easier time understanding Einstein's Theory of Relativity than humans will ever have of understanding God. The limits of linear perceptions of spacetime make it impossible for us. Our primitive languages of inelegant grunts and whinnies will never be up to the task of even beginning to do more than give the vaguest of outlines to God. If we ever evolve enough to truly understand God, we will be unable to put it into words.

I think god is a symbol of human lack of understanding. It seems like everything people didn't get, they filled in with god, and oh how it caught on.
