Poll #1652214 Grammar!

How often do you correct the grammar/spelling/punctuation/et cetera of others?

Always. There's no excuse for not knowing how to use proper grammar.
Only if it's mind-numbingly bad, regardless of whether or not I know the person.
Only if it's a friend or person I can otherwise trust not to flip out.
I just can't be bothered.
I'm usually the person getting corrected.

I always do that too. But generally I only tell people if I'm certain they want to know or if they ask "is that right?".

Once in a while I will say something, like to my mother if she's written a public LJ entry, because she would want to know. But generally, I overlook mistakes. I know I make them, too.

Only when it comes to formal writing or LJ roleplay, etc., AND if it's a consistent grammar or spelling error. If it's a one-off or a typo, I just let it go. After all, no one's perfect (least of all me, especially when I'm on my mobile phone, like right now). XD But in general, when it comes to other people, I'm pretty chill about it and will only (and tactfully) correct someone if I see them making the same error consistently.

I don't really do it in real life since I don't want to get punched, but I do it on the internet all the time.

Yes, this.

The only people I honestly do this to that often are my dad and my sister. They hate me for it, but I'm only trying to help! :P

I will correct ANYONE. There is absolutely no excuse.

I just let it go. I know I'm not perfect so I try not to expect perfection in others.

To many times I sea people get upset, and why? (Okay, I admit I did that to drive the spelling and grammar nazis crazy.)

Only if it is truly bad, and even then not in every case.

With a red pen, at my work. I'm an ESL teacher for junior secondary schoolers (14-16 years old).

With people I know, very rarely. Unless they're my family or group members of an assignment/presentation we're working on.

I rarely bother with prescriptive grammar rules unless I've been asked to edit someone's work. A notable exception is "supposably"; it's a pet peeve of mine.

My pet peeve is 'should of' .

I'm honestly more inclined to complain about the mistakes of a stranger than of someone I know personally...

I mostly correct written grammar only though apart from my partner but I only correct his grammar when he is speaking German as it is his second language. He in turn corrects me on my English(his first language and my second).
