George Washington, in his farewell address, warned about the danger of having political parties (as opposed to a bunch of independents who reached consensus.) Obviously no one listened to poor old George. Do you think a political system without political parties is workable today?
I think having a party system is fine -- the problem is that in the US, at least, people only really pay attention to/legitimize two parties. If we had six or seven all with the same amount of oomph, and with a wider variety of ideas and platforms than the Dems and Republicans (both of whom, let's be honest, tend to run the gamut on the political spectrum, crossing over and blending together on different issues), I think we'd be better off.
Needless to say, I probably am not qualified to answer this poll, am I? XD;;;;;;;;
