This is something I was wondering about as I was shaving this morning. I've heard some people say that you should shave against the grain for a closer shave. I've heard others say that you should shave with the grain to avoid ingrown hairs. I noticed that I do both (I'll shave the side of my face and my chin against the grain, but my upper lip with the grain.) This question is directed to both men and women, whether it's your face, legs, armpits or some other part of your body being shaved.
Do you generally shave with the grain or against the grain?
Against the grain
Both, but mostly against the grain
Both, but mostly with the grain
I don't know/I don't pay any attention
Something else (what?)
