None of the Above

I tend to only listen to "punk rock" Christmas songs, so I don't think there are any releases this year that I'll be downloading.

...unless someone decides to put out A Santa Cause 3, that'd be awesome!

I'm forced to listen to it for hours at work every day, I don't think I could take it at home.

That said, I have a bunch of Trans-Siberian Orchestra on my computer.

I have this problem too.

I voted Jackson 5, but really, I just make a CD of my faves. (Teh lack of Donny Hathaway alone on this list is diappointing)

I replied 'None of the above'. I've bought 'If On A Winter's Night' by Sting for my husband, but it's not really something that interests me, even though I love Sting's music usually.

The only 'Christmas' sort of song I enjoy is 'Fairytale of New York' when it's sung by Christie Moore. I love that one, but it's not exactly a typical christmas song!

Edit: I realise there's a lyric in this that might be offensive to gay people so I want to apologise for that. I just want to say I'm not 'anti-gay' (in fact am pro gay-rights) but I still like the song.

Sting has specifically said that it is not a Christmas album and he feels like Christmas albums are made by people who have nothing original left in them. :-P (not that I entirely agree or anything, just repeating the interview)

Z told me it's not a Christmas album either, but I think Sting's definition of "not a Christmas album" is a bit dubious.

Personally, I think that if someone deliberately brings out an album at Christmas time, it is a Christmas album! Even if he didn't record it as such, he - or his record company - are cashing in on the Christmas market.

I wouldn't worry about it, I love that song too (though I prefer the version that Christy McColl does with the Pogues).

I tend to not listen to Christmas music unless it's on the radio.

I wasn't aware of Sting's new Christmas album, but I plan to check it out.

Brooke White has a Christmas EP on iTunes (3 songs) that I intend to get.

I love Christmas music, even the more religious stuff, partly because it's what I remember when I was a child. I'm also fond of Christmas music played like rock music (such as Weezer's Christmas album last year). I've bought a few unusual compilation albums.

I think my favorite Chrismas albums are Loreena McKennitt and Sarah McLachlan, but like with all music, it depends on the moment.
