I'm sorry if this poll has been done before, but I was inspired by the extreme range of opinions among the responses to today's Featured Question. Curiosity compelled me. So whether or not you have read the books or seen the movies...

Your feelings on Twilight most closely resemble:

I have a moderate or neutral opinion.

For me it says "Have you seen New Moon? If so, how do you think it compared to the book? Was it better or worse than Twilight? Please, no spoilers!"

I don't know if it's depending on area or something else. Weird...

"I HATE IT!!!" is probably a little strong for my actual feelings... "I find it moderately distasteful" might be more accurate.

Me too.

Yes, me three. I don't hate it. I just have no desire to have anything to do with it and wish I would hear about it a little less.

More like, don't care. XD Haven't seen nor read it, nor do I plan to anytime soon.

Same here. Couldn't care less.

I'm leaning toward liking it, but I also enjoy seeing it snarked/ranted about. So I don't know where I stand.

The entire series irritates me, but I've since learned to hold my tongue.

I think the third option covers my feeling. I saw the first one, but haven't seen the second one yet. It amazes me though how many people are venomous in their criticism of this franchise, while in the next breath admit that they actually haven't bothered to see either flick. (My s.o. is one of these people.) In the words of Herbert Spencer, "there is a principle which is a bar against all information, which is proof against all arguments and which cannot fail to keep a man in everlasting ignorance – that principle is contempt prior to investigation.”

I was actually going to say something similar to this - and my friend and I have noticed that some people will criticize based on what they've heard, passing it along as fact. I think the best example is "Bella and Edward's relationship is a terrible model for relationships; Bella just does whatever Edward says." Now there are quite a few reasons I would argue that Bella and Edward have a poor relationship for preteens to be modeling their own lives after, but this is not one of them. Bella does in fact pretty much ignore what Edward tells her to do at least 50% of the time, and they compromise at others.
Anyway, my friend and I have come to the conclusion that it's not really cool to be "meh" about something - it is cool to love it, and it's cool to hate it, which is why it seems like the opinions are polarized (although I don't know if this accounts for your SO's opinions on things).

I haven't read/seen anything having to do with the series and I'm perfectly content that way. I won't say I hate it because I haven't seen it, but I'm confident that I don't/won't love it. LOL

I don't hate it but I am deathly afraid of slipping on pubescent ovaries spilling all over the place...

More, I think it's hilarious. Seriously, they sparkle?! WTF?!

I hate it.

It's poorly written. It trashed vampires and werewolves, it's anti-feminist, sexist, classist, and rascist. Edward is an abusive stalker, Bella has no personality or intelligence, and Jacob is a pedophile who sexual assaults Bella. And don't even get me started on Reneesme.

Plus, the fans are fucking insane. I hate it more than I can type.

I for one hate it.

I'm tired of hearing about it. I'm tired of seeing it and I wish the stupid tweens in this world would get some taste.

i can't wait for it to end

I read the first book and watched the first movie. The book was decent but didn't really hold my interest enough to compell me to read the rest of them. I enjoyed the movie well enough, but I wouldn't call it a favourite. The girl who played Bella bothered me a bit. There's soemthing twitchy about her :/
I don't hate either the books or the films, by any means. The fact that they make so many people happy is enough to make me like them a bit anyway. Some of my siblings are very fond of them.
