Today is my mom's birthday, and it got me thinking. I've always considered my parents much older than the parents of most of my peers, and I was wondering how true that is.

Oy, I just realized that the 35-40 option in the first question should read 36-40. Sorry!

My mom was 33, my dad was 28. I'm interested to see who else had a mother significantly (say, more than 2 years) older than their father... It seems a lot more uncommon than the vice versa.

My best friend's mother is over ten years older than her father. He's dating an older gal right now, too!

We have similar circumstances! My Mom was 33 (just a few weeks shy of 34) and my Dad was 29 :)

I've noticed that among my friends, my parents are very young - there are even some kids in my daughter's 2nd grade class that have parents closer to my parents' age than mine!

Oddly enough, my first grader's friends' parents are all about my age... seems like a big disconnect from one year to the next!

FWIW, I'm 32. :)

I've noticed that my parents tend to be "older" than most people my age. I'm currently 23, my father is 62, and my mother is 61.

I have notice that my parents are the same age as most of my peers' grandparents. My parents were 37 and 41 when they had me. I have two kids and had them in my late 20s. I said that I would never have kids at the age my parents were when they had me. Now I am engaged and getting married in the next year or so and we are considering having another child. I am 35. Guess never say never. lol

Mom was 29, dad was 45. I'm turning 29 on Monday; I cannot IMAGINE having a child at this age (then again, I dislike kids and can't imagine having a child anyway, but... yeah).

Interesting poll!

Among most of the people in my age group (very early 20s), my parents are older than all the other parents, but then, I'm the youngest child. They're average age among my older sister's friends' parents.

My parents had me when they were 39, but I'm the youngest. My friend's grandmother is as old as my parents. Her mom had her when she was 16, and her grandmother had her mom when she was 17.

My parents were both 37 when I was born.

My brothers are 8, 12, and 14 years older than me.

My parents were both 29 when they had me. My mom was 34 and my dad was 33 when they had my brother.

My mom was 41 when I was born and dad was 42. So now my mom is 97! Dad has passed away - at age 97.

I had one of my children early (I was 21) and the other 2 late (at age 34 and 37). I'm almost like a grandparent compared with the parents of my younger children's friends - which is weird at school functions.
