Oh, nostalgia

Sherlock is tired of your bullshit
I was standing outside my front door, watching a bunch of kids get yelled at for being outside without their parents around, and it got me thinking about this again.

Growing up, I was...

Completely free range. If there wasn't school the next day, my parents didn't want to see me.
Outside quite a bit, but was never allowed off the property.
Inside, because there wasn't a whole lot to do/no kids my age in my area
Inside, because I didn't get on well with the kids my age.
Inside, watching telly or playing video games.

When I see kids (not teenagers) running around outside, I think...

Where the hell are their parents?
Isn't there school tomorrow?
As long as they're not breaking anything, who cares?
Oh, good. I can send the nipper outside and have some peace and quiet.
It's too dangerous for kids to be outside on their own. Someone should call social services.

And since I can't edit my poll, when did you grow up?

I grew up in the 90s in a townhouse development, and was allowed anywhere on the quarter-mile loop of our street, prettty much. Wanderings to other parts of the development required parental notification, but they pretty much never said no.
