Election 2008: Obama Widens Lead in the Polls

Poll #1270681 McCain's demise

For a time following the Republican Convention until approximately September 17th, John McCain led Barack Obama in most election polling. Since then, Obama has regained and widened his lead. (Today's CNN poll has Obama at 49% and McCain at 43%.) What do you think is the biggest reason for this change in the polls?

Dissatisfaction with Sara Palin's capablity to be Vice-President
24(35.8%)
The electorate is blaming the Republicans for the current stock market and mortage crisis
9(13.4%)
Obama led all along. Nothing has really changed, McCain got a false bump from the convention.
13(19.4%)
McCain blundered when he suggested that the campaign be "suspended."
7(10.4%)
The Obama campaign has run a superior ad campaign.
1(1.5%)
Obama has outspent McCain.
1(1.5%)
The national media has demonstrated either a pro-Obama bias or an anti-McCain bias (or some combination of these.)
3(4.5%)
Something else is the biggest reason for this. (Please comment and tell us what.)
9(13.4%)

In the 30some days between now and the election, can McCain recover and win the election?

He can and I predict he will
3(4.4%)
It's possible. With debates and such to come, it's still anybody's election.
26(38.2%)
It's possible, but highly doubtful
26(38.2%)
No way in hell. He's done like dinner.
9(13.2%)
Other (what?)
4(5.9%)
