Applications and Schooling

For kids in my area, 'tis the season to recieve rejection and acceptance letters for high school programs. A lot of people I've talked to - even on LJ - think it's strange that we get so worked up about applying for any kind of eductional experience below college. *shrug* Are we that alone?
