I work at national department store with a couple hundred stores in the USA and believe there are also located national. Anyways the store I work at is having a huge remodel a few million dollars worth of changes (in fact we are only one of three stores getting it). To get the project done on schedule the work crew is working 24/7 even while the store is open. There are two feet deep holes in several spots, walls are being pulled apart, painting, etc and so forth. Its a frigging disaster in there! And the noise and smell ugh! Granted there are plastic coverings and signs but in my option its not enough. It's impossible to get any work done because the merchandise gets moved a few times a day, racks are shoved together in the walk ways. Customers complain and ask annoying question about details of the work. Alot of employees including managers think the store should have been closed for a week and the hardest part of remodel taken care of without bystanders. The higher ups said no it would cost too much to pay all the employees a week of pay and deal with customers annoyed we are closed. However I think we are losing money by people not wanting to shop in place in such disarray.
If you walked into a store in the middle of a remodel like that you....
Keep on shopping obvisiously I needed something! I'll be careful
I'd still shop but be a bit annoyed about it
I'd shop and complain the entire time even to employees who have nothing to do with it
I'd ask when it was to be finished and come back than
I'd just leave
If you had to work in a store with a remodel like that you...
Won't complain its my job I'd deal with
Would complain quietly but not to management
Would complain to management
Would refuse to come in finding it too dangerous
