My uncle had one, but I never used it.

I had a waterbed from fourth grade until I graduated from high school. It was a present from my parents. I haven't had one since. I remember that it was a nightmare to move, would leak occasionally, and was a hassle to change the water in and keep clean. But I really miss the experience of sleeping in one. I would not get a waterbed anytime soon partly because of the hassle, and I imagine they're not that cheap.

I have never had the chance to have sex in one, but I've heard that's a special kind of fun.

The points about changing the water????

I had a waterbed for years but I never had to change the water.
Once the bed was filled I poured in a bottle of algaecide before putting the mattress stopper in.
The bottle of algaecide came with the bed when I purchased it.

Of all the people that I've known in my time who have/had a waterbed, no one has ever had to change the water.

We're on our third waterbed mattress since 1982, and we've never changed the water, either. Every six months or so we pour waterbed conditioner into it, and the water's always been clear with no odor. And two leaks in 34 years isn't so bad.

Nor were our leaks any disaster. They were pinholes in the mattress, all they did was get the sheets wet, not a drop got past the liner.

My friend's parents had one when I was a kid. We got to play on it once and it felt really awesome, but then we were shooed off to make sure we didn't puncture it. I'd be too afraid of that happening to have one permanently, but I would like to try sleeping on one once.

From what I remember of growing up with one, minor punctures weren't a big deal and could easily be repaired. However, it probably depends on the size of the hole.

I loved my waterbed but my house is old and after one too many leaks I was afraid I'd come home one day to find the floor collapsed and my bedroom was now in my living room.

the first time i slept in a water bed was in florida in 1986 or 87. i was at my friend's apartment and had just flown down there and took a nap on her bed. i had a really weird freaky dream that i remember in such great detail to this day. i woke up freaked out but couldn't scream. then i was so tired that i fell back asleep and had another weird freaky scary dream. again, i can still see it in my mind in great vivid detail. i think that tainted my opinion of water beds.

G had one when I met him, LOL! That brings back some crazy memories. But the problem with his was it was not heated and we froze our fannies off in the winter. Even the mild winters here.

Back in the day...no fun with a hangover, best to move to the floor, ;-)
