Here's something that came up on another forum, and I wondered how most people would feel.

When I realise that the Earth is just a speck in the vastness of the Universe, I feel:

insignificant

Something else: Indifferent. Things are how they are.

That's close to how I feel. I tend not to think about it, I just try to accept life on life's terms.

when i think about things in this perspective i think about horton hearing a who on the little tiny dust speck and how although we might just be part of a little speck of dust floating around we have our whole world that is big to us. so sometimes i feel insignificant and tiny, but sometimes i feel important and part of something awesome, and sometimes i feel so tripped out by the whole concept it feels like my head explodes and then i just have to stop thinking about it cuz it feels like i'm dropping acid or something and i get all scared and confused. haha

I like it - you have all the reactions! :)

Interesting. On the other forum, most people said they felt insignificant, but a hefty minority were thrilled. No one had any other type of response; I'm just glad I remembered to include that option in the poll.
