This is similar to a poll posted in potus_geeks today. Without disclosing your political preferences, which issue is most important to you personally?

Edit: OOPS! Somebody didn't spell check very well. "imployment"=employment

This one was a hard one to answer because there are a few issues I feel nearly equally strongly about. Health care and reproductive rights were exceptionally close behind my choice of marriage equality.

I believe that any two people should be allowed to bind their lives together on paper without necessarily getting married. In my fantasy-land Utopia, marriage as we know it now is a purely religious and/or spiritual ceremony that has no legal binding whereas a union/partnership/etc. is the document the state cares about. Two consenting adults regardless of their gender/sex/whatever should be allowed to enter a contract with each other, even if they don't love each other romantically.

A fairer health care system was at the top of my list, as someone who has a pre-existing condition and is considered uninsurable. The economy is my other top concern.

The issue that I'm most passionate about is marriage equality, but I don't know that I'd consider it the most important issue. I voted for it in the poll anyway.

Voting for any of these would necessarily imply that I think these problems could be solved within the context of the system as it is. But the entire system is the walking dead, and needs replaced.

I feel like "taxes" encompasses many of those issues (including the budget) since it deals with not only what I am paying to the government, but also where my money is being allocated. I care deeply about many of these topics and many of those are supported by my tax dollars. :)

I voted for the Environment but I'm in Australia so I'm having a dream run on a lot of the other issues
