Sorry, I probably should have included more information in a preamble, but I'm always afraid that I'll influence the poll if I do that. God bless the Google.

I'm reminded of applying for college scholarships. I found it extremely difficult to find scholarships I could apply for as I was white, not piss-poor, not a quarterback, and not in the 0.0000000000001% of my class.

Yeah, me too. Eventually I gave up trying to find anything and just took out a ton of loans.

It sounds good on principle, but then I think about minorities that have been historically discriminated against who can pass as members of the majority and can only get anywhere by hiding who they are or, if they reveal their minority status, get shafted. What's to stop a member of the majority from claiming that minority status? And then what, do we say "PROVE IT" to every member of that minority?

I don't know. Maybe I'm thinking in circles.

In principle, I support it, but only where the potential beneficiary *was* actually negatively impacted. This is of relevance here in South Africa where we have employment equity (affirmative action) business deals given to businessmen who, though black, were brought up in Europe and educated in institutions like Eton.
