In all cases, when in doubt, a gift card works beautifully for me because then I can decide what I want to get with it. For someone who really knows me well enough and is artistic or skilled with words, fanart or fanfic of my RP characters or somesuch is very much appreciated, but there are few people who can really do that, so. But aside from that, as long as it's not something that contradicts my values or lifestyle (like, IDK, a gift certificate for a super large Meat Lovers' pizza, when I'm vegetarian), I'm usually pretty appreciative of whatever I get. :3 I much prefer to give than receive anyway.

Since my workplace is doing the holiday gift exchange this year, and I want to participate, I listed gift cards. What's hilarious is that I'll most likely get the very same thing I'm giving my Secret Santa Recipient: a Starbucks gift card. XD

Whatever they want to give me. It's the thought that counts.

The thought counting is why I don't want gifts. I (and almost assuredly you, whoever you are) have too much stuff already; show you care through actions and I'll do the same.

I can definitely get on board with that.

My favorite gifts are the things my children make me... for example, my youngest son made a gift out of nothing but wrapping paper. A bundle of wrapping paper with a bow. I don't need stuff, just wrap me in a hug and tell me that you love me.

For the most part, it's not what the gift is, but the fact that they thought this was the right gift for me, that counts. If what was right for me was handmade, then they'll handmake it and I'll ooo and ahh over the craftsmanship. If what was right for me was storebought, then I'll be thankful for their thinking of me. Why should I care if it's store-bought? It really is the thought that counts.

I prefer that coworkers don't get me gifts, unless we're pretty good friends. I don't really care what friends and family get me, anything is nice.

Yes, I feel the same way about coworkers. It makes me feel obligated to return the favor, and I have a really hard time figuring out what to buy for people I don't know.

C-c-c-combo breaker! (For your comment here, which breaks the seeming consecutive trend of userpics with cats in them. XD )

re: friend, whatever a friend gives me, its all good because I dont expect anything from friends. If a friend takes the time to give me a gift, then I love whatever it is because it comes from the heart usually.

I'm terrible at deciding what I want for Christmas, which is usually clothes, so I love the gift card idea! It makes it so much easier.

I prefer coworkers don't get me gifts. I prefer customers don't get me gifts (it's happened). I prefer store-bought personal things from everyone else, even if I'm being obnoxious and have no clue what they should get me.

i prefer that no one gives me anything because xmas is so commercialized. but people continue to give me presents so i have to give them too.

I prefer something I asked for, (wherever it comes from,) especially if they have/requested a wish list. The thought is what counts, but getting something completely useless that will either get returned or shoved into the back of a closet makes me feel disappointed because I essentially got nothing, and guilty for not appreciating this totally pointless gift.

wish there was an option for multiple answers! to me, it doesnt matter. whatever anyone wants to give me is just fine, because it means something that they actually took the time to think about me.
