Tourniquet
I was watching a video about what people from different places call soda. I was interested because I'm from the mideast of the U.S., and the video said people from there call it "pop", but I call it "soda". XD So, that provoked my questions.

What do you call soda?

Pop
25(16.8%)
Soda
75(50.3%)
Coke
19(12.8%)
Cola
1(0.7%)
Soft drink
17(11.4%)
Something else (what?)
12(8.1%)

Where are you from?

Somewhere online someone has done an actual map of it by ...county, maybe? It's more of a breakdown than by state. Let me see if I can find it.

Yup, here it is. I call it Coke and I grew up in a 30-50% Coke county.

I said coke and soda, but that is mostly because I only drink coke products in most situations. I ask for Coke in hopes that they will say "is X okay?" and then I change my order. :-P

It's soda in Florida.
Coke in Alabama and Mississippi.
Pop in Kansas.

At least these are the places that I've lived..

Your question is wrong. It should be "What do you call pop?" ;)

I usually say pop, but I hear it called soda pop a lot, too. And I'm from Utah. :)

I use the term soda, but 99% of the people in this area (Ohio) use pop, so sometimes I'll say that ... but it feels wrong!

Soda and I don't know anyone who has every called it different and I live in California.

I generally refer to drinking pop, but if I'm speaking in the singular, then it's "a soda."

Apart from soft drink and coke, I usually call it whatever the brand/flavour is, eg Fanta, lemonade, etc.

I call it "carbonated sugar water." I also refuse to drink it because it's so sickeningly sweet.

My boss says that he calls it coke when he's not thinking about it, even if it's actually Sprite or Dr. Pepper.

Used to be pop when I was a kid, but now it's mostly fizzy drink.
