I've always loved historical fiction (particularly American Civil War time period), and since futuristic fiction would fall under sci-fi and I've never had any use for that. Just personal prefeerence :)

I don't have a preference and like both.

I've always found historical fiction (or even fantasy that borrows from history in terms of dress/customs/etc) to be more enchanting than the future.

awesome, thank you so much for your response! I feel the same way, for the most part.

From what I've found the chances of historical fiction being good or so-bad-it's-good are much higher than for futuristic fiction.

I am much more interested in what's going to happen, rather than what already did happen.

I was actually really shocked today to see the complete turnaround for futuristic fiction, it seems a lot of people feel this way!

i prefer futuristic fiction by a good margin. it's really interesting to me to think about ways of life that we can barely conceive of at the moment. i mean sure, it might be hard to imagine actually living in the 1600's on a day to day basis, but futuristic societies are just so much more different, and they get to bend what we currently call reality.

Two of my favorite books are Brave New World and 1984. I love futuristic fiction. Basically, I love dystopia novels.

History is history. There are only a few ways to portray it. It was what is was.

The future is pure imagination. Nobody knows what's going to happen, so you can say virutally anything about it and it works.
